Mumbai Indians to play Chennai Super Kings in Opener:
The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule has been announced today. Keeping with tradition, defending champions Mumbai Indians will take on runners-up Chennai Super Kings in the opener in Abu Dhabi on September 19.
The upcoming edition of the world’s largest T20 league will be held at the three venues in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah in the UAE, relocated out of India due to a surge in COVID-19 events.
Dubai will host its first game after the tournament-opener the next day when Delhi Capitals take on Kings XI Punjab, followed by the third match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore on Monday. The action will then move to Sharjah as Rajasthan Royals host Chennai Super Kings on September 22.
