India’s squad for T20I series vs Bangladesh
The 15-member India squad for the upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh has been revealed by BCCI, with Suryakumar Yadav as expected will lead side.
Sanju Samson has been selected as the first-choice wicketkeeper batter in the squad, while IPL sensation Mayank Yadav got his maiden call-up.
The 22-year-old Mayank Yadav stunned everyone with his perfect line and lengths and unbelievable speed during IPL 2024. He cloaked 156.7 kmph, which was his fastest delivery in the league, and fourth highest overall.
With most of the experienced players are busy playing in the test series against Bangladesh which will concludes on October 1, and will prepare for New Zealand test series, starting October 16.
BCCI has picked a squad consisting of young and mainly T20 specialist players, who all performed well in the IPL 2024.
The No.1 ranked T20I batter in the world, Suryakumar Yadav, who was announced as India’s regular skipper after Rohit Sharma announced his retirement following T20 World Cup 2024 win, had suffered an injury during the Buchi Babu Tournament in August 2024, but now he is completely fit and set to lead the Indian side.
Abhishek Sharma, who played solid cricket during his first India series against Zimbabwe in July, has been included in the squad as an opener. While experienced Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube and young Nitish Kumar Reddy selected as three all-rounders with medium pace all-round skill.
Jitesh Sharma has been picked as the second dedicated wicketkeeper batter, Riyan Parag had a great run with both bat and ball against Sri Lanka in India’s last T20I series, also included.
While three dedicated spinners, and three pacers are part of the squad.
The T20I between India vs Bangladesh will start on October 6, followed by the second T20I on October 9, and the final one on October 12.
