India’s World Cup-winning Captains With Most Runs in International Cricket

Over the years there have been many captains who held the Indian tri-color high in the game of cricket, however, there have been only three captains who led India to glory in the ICC major events such as the World Cup. First, it was Kapil Dev who won the ODI World Cup in 1983, then it took 24 years for India to lift the next title under MS Dhoni.

MS Dhoni then went on to win the ODI World Cup in 2011 and the Champions Trophy in 2013. But then again the long wait came when under Rohit Sharma India won the T20 World Cup in 2024 after 11 years of ICC trophy drought.
