India to tour South Africa for short series in November ahead of Border-Gavaskar trophy

Team India is set to travel to South Africa for a four-match T-20 series in November. Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced the series with a joint release. Let us look at the details at the India tour of South Africa November 2024.

India have toured South Africa for all format competition during the December 2023 to January 2024. And it will be their second tour to Africa in a year.

First T20I – November 8: SA vs IND – Durban 

Second T20I – November 10: SA vs IND – Gqeberha 

Third T20I – November 13: SA vs IND – Centurion 

Fourth T20I – November 15: SA vs IND – Johannesburg 

“I would like to thank the BCCI for their continued support to South Africa’s cricket, and world cricket in general,” Lawson Naidoo, the CSA chairperson said in the statement.

The honorary secretary of BCCI, Jay Shah, also shed the light on the importance of thsi series and said, “India and South Africa have always shared a deep and strong bond, one that both nations take great pride in. 

The Indian Cricket Team has consistently received immense appreciation and love from South African fans, and this sentiment is equally strong among Indian fans towards the South African side.” – he added  

The first match of the series will be take place at the iconic Kingsmead in Durban on November 8, followed by the second T20I on November 10 in Gqeberha. The third T20I in Centurion on November 13, and the fourth and final T20I on November 15 at Johannesburg.

With the senior men’s team’s important home test series against New Zealand will end on November 5, which will be crucial for India’s chances to qualify into the WTC finals.

BCCI will likely to send a team without their main senior players like Rohit, Kohli, Bumrah and Shami.

The no.1 batsman in T20I rankings, Suryakumar Yadav, might get the chance to lead India in regular skipper’s absence.

Suryakumar also led the team during India’s T20I series against South Africa in December 2023, which was ended at 1-1. The swashbuckling batter won the player of the series award for scoring most runs (156 in 2 matches).
