India’s Ideal T20I lineup to face England 

India best playing 11 for T20 series vs England

India best playing 11 for T20 series vs England, starting January 22, will focus on a mix of experience and young talent to tackle a strong English side.  

The team selection should factor in the recent form of players, their adaptability to conditions, and specific demands of T20 cricket. Let’s take a look at India’s best playing 11 for T20I series against England.  

Openers: Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (wk) 

At the top of the order, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson make a strong opening pair. Samson’s ability to anchor and accelerate when needed compliments Abhishek’s explosive batting style. Abhishek, being a left-hander, adds flexibility to team’s combination. Together, they can provide India aggressive starts needed in the powerplay.  

Middle-order: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh 

Suryakumar in at number.3, bringing stability and the ability to chase down big totals with his vast experience. Tilak Varma, who had displayed his batting brilliance by hitting 280 runs in four innings at a strike rate of 198.58 in South Africa couple of months ago, takes the number.4 position.  

Rinku Singh at number 5 is a reliable option who can stabilize the innings if early wickets fall and finish strongly in the death overs.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel  

The all-rounders, Hardik Pandya, Nitish Kumar Reddy and India’s vice-captain in this series, Axar Patel, form the backbone of lower middle order. Pandya, being a power hitter, can change the game at any point with his bat and also delivers with the ball. 

Newcomer Nitish Kumar Reddy also showed glimpse of his skills whenever he got the chance with both bat and ball. While Axar Patel’s left-arm spin and batting versatility adds depth to the batting lineup. 

Bowlers: Varun Chakaravarthy, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh 

In the bowling department, Varun Chakaravarthy leads the spin attack. His ability to pick up wickets in the middle overs is crucial for breaking partnerships. The pace duo of Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh forms a formidable combination. Shami’s swing and toe crushing yorkers, and Arshdeep’s death overs expertise make them a balanced and effective unit.  

This XI offers a perfect mix of aggression, control, and adaptability. However, India also has the flexibility to adjust according to playing 11 based on pitch conditions and opposition strengths. The first match of the series will take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
