India Are Terrific Side They Have Serious Match-Winners: Smith

Team India is on track for the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup. The Virat Kohli-led team thrashed England and Australia in warm-up games and will enter the group rounds with confidence. According to  Steve Smith, The Men in Blue are the title favorites this time. As per the legendary Australian batter, the Indian side has many match-winners and will be a difficult team to beat in the mega event. Here is all about what Smith Speaks On T20 World Cup India Team.

Smith’s remarks came after Australia lost by 9 wickets to India in a warm-up match on Wednesday (20 October).  At the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai, Indian bowlers did an excellent job limiting Australia to 152/5.

India’s chase was brilliant, with players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav torturing Australian bowlers. As a consequence, the Men in Blue were able to reach the finish line in only 17.5 overs.

Smith also said that India has guarded all bases and will be a power to be reckoned with in the event. “They (India) are a terrific side, they have got all bases covered and some serious match-winners in there,” said Smith.

“They’ve obviously been playing in these conditions during the last couple of months with the IPL so they’ll be used to that,” he added.

It’s never easy when you’re three down: Smith

However, Smith performed admirably in the practice match, disregarding his team’s poor performance. Before surrendering to Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the former Australian captain blasted 57 off 48 deliveries.

Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis, on the other hand, scored 37 and 41 runs, accordingly. Interestingly, it was the first time the experienced hitter has knocked 50 runs since he hit 86 for New South Wales versus Queensland in March of this year. In terms of his performance, the 32-year-old believes that it was beneficial to invest time in the middle.

“It was nice to spend a bit of time in the middle again. It’s never easy when you’re three down. You have to rebuild for a period there and I thought we did that pretty well. The partnerships with Stoinis (Marcus Stoinis) and Maxi (Glenn Maxwell) were obviously important,” he asserted.
