Sri Lanka vs India 3rd ODI First Innings Update

IND vs SL 3rd ODI 1st Innings Update: In a thrilling game here at Colombo the Sri Lankan openers played a wonderful knock to give the Lankan team the perfect start in the final series decider match. The Sri Lankan team came into this game with a 1-0 lead and with the series at stake the Lankan Lions played the perfect innings to have a chance of winning the series.

Sri Lankan skipper Charith Asalanka once again won the toss in this final ODI and opted to bat first. The Sri Lankan openers were solid on the crease and did not allow the Indian bowlers to take control of the game. Both Pathum Nissanka and Avishka Fernando took charge and smashed 89 runs for the opening partnership.

The Sri Lankan onslaught was mainly started by the openers but it was Avishka Fernando who led the charge with his impressive shorts. While Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis contributed with their short little cameo to power Sri Lanka’s score to 248/7 in 50 overs.

Indian Bowlers Comeback strong to Restrict Sri Lanka for less than 250

With the series down to 1-0 in the favour of Sri Lanka the Indian team had to be at their best to level the series. However, after losing the toss, Indian bowlers failed to capitalize on the crucial points early on in the innings. Even though Indian bowlers fought back hard to restrict Sri Lanka to less than 250, the chase will be pretty much difficult with the kind of bowlers Sri Lankans possess.

Riyan Parag was the standout bowler among the Indian bowlers as he picked up three crucial, which included the wickets of Avishka Fernando, Charith Asalanka, and Dunith Wellalage. While Kuldeep Yadav, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Siraj, and Axar Patel picked up one wicket each to restrict the Sri Lanka to 248.

Avishka Fernando Standout Performance Guide Sri Lanka to Respectable Total

For Sri Lanka, the onslaught was led by Fernando, where he scored 96 runs in 102 balls before getting dismissed by Riyan Parag. Even though he missed out on a century by 4 runs, his valuable 96 powered the Sri Lankan score to a respectable total. Along with him Pathum Nissanka (45) and Kusal Mendis (59) gave the Lankan Lions the much-needed run in this final ODI.

India Needs 249 Runs in 50 Overs

India’s bowling performance was disappointing, and now they have to chase a massive 249 in the 50 overs. The Indian batting lineup will need to be cautious and not make the same mistakes they did in the first two ODIs. Given the challenging conditions and the important bowlers for Sri Lanka, the Indians will need to play mature innings to win the match and level the series.
