After dominating the test series, the world champions India maintained their supremacy in the T20 format and defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets in series opener on Sunday at Gwalior. Let’s look at IND vs BAN 1st T20I Highlights for today’s match.

The team playing in the T20I series is completely different from the one we saw in the test series a week ago, but there is no difference in the result.  

With 2 debutants, a comeback player and some young guns, the Suryakumar-led India outshined the Bangla Tigers in every department to start the 3-match series with a comprehensive win.

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav made a call and invited the visitors to bat first after winning the toss, and Indian bowlers proved his decision right delivering 2 breakthroughs in first six and 3 more in next four overs. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who came in at number 5, scored the most runs for Bangladesh with a 32-ball 35* and remained unbeaten till the innings end. His knock was crucial in guiding the tourists to a decent 127. 

Apart from Miraz, captain Shanto played a modest knock of 27. While none of the other batters showed signs of staying for a long time at crease.  

India’s leading wicket-taker in T20 world Cup 2024, Arshdeep Singh, starred with the ball in the first T20I vs Bangaldesh, and bagged claimed three wickets while giving only 14 in 3.5 overs.  

Varun Chakaravarthy, who is famous as mystery spinner, trapped the Bangladeshi batters in his mystery deliveries in his India comeback. Chakaravarthy also took a three-wicket haul.  

After bowling a maiden first international over, the pace sensation Mayank Yadav, grabbed his first wicket for India with a 146 km/h quicky.  

India, in reply, chased down the target in 11.5 overs. Abhishek Sharma’s 7-ball 16, Sanju Samon 19-ball 29, and Suryakumar Yadav’s 29 off 14 were exciting cameos during the run-chase. While debutant Nitish Reddy (16* off 15) and Hardik Pandya (39* off 16) done the deal for the hosts.  

The second T20I of the 3-match series will take place on October 9 at Delhi.
