IND vs AUS 1st ODI Highlights: Classic batter KL Rahul kept his calm and composure on a fast bowler’s heaven surface by smashing unbeaten 75 to help India win the first ODI against Australia.

It was a pacer show before KL Rahul’s classy knock at the Wankhede on Friday, as the fast bowlers of both sides, kept the batters on their toes in the first ODI between India and Australia.

Both sides players have disintegrated on this favourable batting surface despite having formidable batting orders.

However, KL Rahul’s match-winning knock grabbed all the limelight at the end of the game.

Ravindra Jadeja (45*) also played a crucial role and provided support to KL Rahul in a 189-run chase game to hand India 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

Deciding to bowl first, Indian team made a solid start, as both Indian seamers Shami and Siraj have excelled with the new ball. They used exact lengths and lines when bowling. The skill of Indian new ball bowlers appeared to be causing some difficulty for Australian hitters.

Mohammad Siraj provided the first breakthrough to India in his first-over itself by Travis Head.

Australia, however, managed to build a 72-run partnership for the second wicket.

Things were looking fine for Australia, but the dismissal of Steven Smith (22) and Marnus Labuschagne (15), broke the back of Australia’s batting line-up, and no-one from the middle or lower-middle order stood up for the side.

The opener, Mitchell Marsh, anyway, showed a fighting spirit and played a superb knock of 81, which was the only saviour knock that led the side reach a somehow defendable total.

Jadeja has excelled in this game on the field and with the ball. Jadeja is continuing his impressive red-ball cricket performance in the white-ball competition, He was brilliant for India in the Test matches of the recently concluded series, and he appeared to be directing his assurance at the white ball leg.

Indian pacers Mohd Shami and Mohd Siraj each claimed three wickets. Jadeja grabbed 2. While Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav also dismissing 1-1 batters in the process.

IND vs AUS 1st ODI highlights: India to chase 189

In the initial phase of the Indian innings, Australian bowlers made the under-200 run chase seem like a difficult target for the Indians, and at one point it appeared as though the Indian team might lose the match.

Ishan Kishan was dismissed in the second over of the innings after being caught by Stoinis in front of the wickets. Kishan reviewed the choice, but the it was not turned in Kishan’s favour.

Mitchell Starc bowled a fast and full to Virat Kohli and caught him for lbw, as Kohli walked back for just 4.

Starc didn’t stop there, he went over the wicket for the new batter Suryakumar Yadav and bowled a swinging delivery that forced Yadav to walk back to pavilion for a duck.

There was a small partnership between Shubman Gill and KL Rahul before Starc shone yet again to dismiss Gill this time.

The home-side was in deep trouble, and the newly joined player, the skipper of team India started to play his natural game, things were looking back in control for India, as the men in blue crossed the 80-run mark before Stoinis got rid off Indian skipper for 25.

KL Rahul (75* off 91) and Ravindra Jadeja (45* off 69) then steadied the Indian ship and brought India back in game with their responsible play.

They did 108 runs partnership for the sixth wicket in 123 balls to secure a victory for India
