Hurricanes Snap A Huge Win Against Melbourne Stars

The 19th Match of BBL 2021-22 has taken off between Hobart Hurricanes vs Melbourne Stars at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart. Hobart Hurricanes have won this game by 24 runs against Stars. Let’s get into some more details of the game.

Here Are The Playing XI For Both Sides:

Hobart Hurricanes (Playing XI): Matthew Wade(w/c), D Arcy Short, Ben McDermott, Peter Handscomb, Harry Brook, Tim David, Jordan Thompson, Nathan Ellis, Thomas Rogers, Riley Meredith, Sandeep Lamichhane

Melbourne Stars (Playing XI): Marcus Stoinis, Joe Clarke(w), Joe Burns, Glenn Maxwell(c), Andre Russell, Hilton Cartwright, Beau Webster, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Clint Hinchliffe, Qais Ahmad, Brody Couch

Hobart Hurricanes have won the toss and have opted to bat against Melbourne Stars

Hurricanes skipper M Wade has taken the right choice of batting first against Stars. Their openers Ben McDermott (67) and skipper Wade (39) have opened the innings for them and gave a dream start. And a small cameo from Short(26) and Tim David(22) in the end have helped them to post a challenging total of 180-6 in 20 overs.

Stars had a tough task in front of them – In order to chase down such a huge total, they needed a few strong partnerships in between. But Stars batting line-up couldn’t build strong partisanship in middle – Wickets were falling at regular intervals and they couldn’t chase the huge total. Joe Clarke made 52 in 40 balls and unfortunately, he wasn’t getting that support from the other and even skipper Maxwell couldn’t add up much to the board. In the end, Hobart Hurricanes have won the match by a margin of 24 runs against Melbourne Stars.

Nathan Ellis has been announced as the Player of the Match for his outstanding spell of 2 for 27.

After the win, Hobart Hurricanes are at the 3rd position of the BBL points table with 10 points and with an NRR of -0.418. On the other hand, Melbourne Stars are at 7th position with only 7 points with an NRR of -1.551.
