Highest paid England cricketers in WPL:Nat Sciver-Brunt of England was purchased for INR 3.20 cr at the inaugural Women’s Premier League auction.

The Mumbai Indians ultimately defeated the UP Warriorz in the intense race for the all-rounder.

However, with England coach Jon Lewis in charge of the team, the UP Warriorz did manage to capture England spin bowler Sophie Ecclestone for £180,000.

The Gujarat Giants and Delhi Capitals were their primary rivals for Ecclestone, but the Warriorz pounced late to capture the deal of the all-rounder.

Fast bowler and England teammate Lauren Bell will join Ecclestone at the Warriorz after a late bid of 30 lakh was made for the 22-year-old, while Heather Knight will join Royal Challengers Bangalore following an opening bid of 40 lakh.

Alice Capsey, an all-around player from England, was sold to the Delhi Capitals for 75 lakh, and 20-year-old spinner Issy Wong was sold to the Indians for 30 lakh alongside Nat Sciver-Brunt.

India’s Smriti Mandhana, who was sold to the Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 3.4 crore, received the highest bid at the WPL auction.

The Women’s Premier League, which runs from March 4 to March 26 and has a total of 22 matches, is the women’s version of the men’s Indian Premier League.
