What led to this Situation?
Team England decided to appoint Harry Brook after their former captain Jos Buttler stepped down from his role, after England exited their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 campaign without a win. Brook, a flexible player across formats, takes command of the ODI and T20I teams, having previously served as vice-captain and briefly led the side against Australia in 2024.

With England set to play 3 ODI’s and 3 T20I’s in their home tour against West Indies, Brook’s task will be to be successful in the series, and prove himself as the skipper.

Apart from being in the second spot on the ICC Men’s batting ranking in Tests, he has played 26 ODI’s for England and amassed 816 runs, with the highest score of 110. And in T20I’s he has played a supportive role for the team, in England’s victory in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. If everything hits right, he will lead the team in the right direction for their future events.
