Praveen Kumar, a former Indian pacer, and his kid are alive after a car accident in Meerut.

When Praveen Kumar’s SUV crashed with a trailer truck in Meerut on Tuesday night, he and his son barely managed to escape.

The incident brought to mind Rishabh Pant’s terrible car tragedy from a year ago.

The 36-year-old Kumar, who represented India in six tests, 68 ODIs, and ten Twenty20 matches, is doing well, as is his son.

“It could have been a lot worse. By the grace of god we are okay and I am talking to you. I had gone to drop my nephew but a massive truck hit my car from behind around 9:30pm. Thank God it was a big car, else there could have been injuries,” Kumar, who lives in Meerut with his family, told PTI.

“I initially thought just the bumper would be broken but the car is badly damaged.” In June last year, stumper-batter Pant also had a miraculous escape when he dozed off at the wheel on the Delhi-Dehradun highway. His luxury car had crashed into the road divider and caught fire, leaving him with severe injuries. He is now rehabilitating.

Kumar had a roller coaster international career that lasted just five years but is best recognized for his extraordinary ability to stroke the ball incredibly hard.

The cunning bowler admitted to having battled depression in 2020, but he is now in terrific form.

Last week, Chris Gayle, a star for the West Indies, and Kumar both attended a promotional event in Delhi.

Although Kumar has frequently expressed a desire to give back to the game, he has since clarified that he is not currently engaged in any coaching activities. He owns a restaurant and a real estate company back home.
