England All-rounder Sam Curran Pulled Out Of 2021 IPL And T20-WC

England all-rounder Sam Curran has been pulled out of the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season as well as the upcoming T20 World Cup. He has a lower-back problem, which was discovered after the player talked of discomfort during the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) match versus Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Saturday. “He (Sam Curran) will fly back to the UK in the next couple of days and will have further scans and a full review later this week from the ECB’s medical team,” ECB’s statement read.

England picks Tom Curran as a substitute for Sam Curran

Sam Curran was also sidelined from CSK’s last match against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on 04th October.  He has featured in a couple of matches in the current IPL in the UAE, surrendering more than 50 runs on both outings.

England has chosen Sam Curran’s brother, Tom Curran, as his substitute in the T20 World Cup team. Tom is now in the backups and was a member of the tour squad that departed the United Kingdom on Monday night. Non-IPL members in England’s T20 World Cup team arrived in Muscat on Tuesday and will remain till October 16.

Furthermore, Reece Topley has also been brought to the side as a touring backup and is anticipated to join the squad in Oman shortly. England will play two warm-up games before the Super 12 versus India (on October 18) and New Zealand (on October 20). Their World Cup adventure will kick off on October 23 in Dubai versus the West Indies.

England’s T20 World Cup squad:

Eoin Morgan (C), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Sam Billings, Jos Buttler, Tom Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Tymal Mills, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
