On the opening day of the first Test between England and Pakistan, Pakistan’s Test captain Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique’s 253-run partnership led Pakistan to score 328 runs after losing 4 wickets in 86 overs at the end of Day 1. Let’s look at ENG vs PAK 1st Test Day 1 Updates.

After a poor performance in the previous Test against Bangladesh, Pakistan batters had a strong comeback in the ongoing Test series against England.

In this 1st Test, the Pakistan captain won the toss and chose to bat first. As the game started, Pakistan faced a setback as they lost their early wicket, where Saim Ayub got out by scoring just 4 runs.

Despite an early wicket, their opening batter Abdullah Shafique partnered with their Test skipper Shan Masood and he scored 102 runs in 184 balls before he got out, while Shan Masood scored 151 runs in 177 balls. This Pakistani duo scored 253 together and got out in the final session of Day 1.

In the final session, Pakistan lost three wickets when Abdullah Shafique was dismissed in 59.5 overs, followed by Shan Masood in 62.3, and Babar Azam was dismissed after scoring 30 runs in 84.3.

Day 1 ended with Pakistan’s vice-captain Saud Shakeel and their star pacer Naseem Shah on the crease and they will resume the second day’s play with Saud Shakeel 35* off 72 balls and Naseem Shah yet to score.

Gus Atkinson Shines in First Overseas Test, Claims Two Wickets for England

On the bowling side, England had a good start with the ball but later lost their momentum and got dominated by the Pakistani batter. They picked four wickets on Day 1, where they got their first wicket in the first session and the last three wickets in the final session.

The English bowling attack is led by 26-year-old pacer Gus Atkinson picked 2 wickets in his first overseas Test match, while Chris Woakes and Jack Leach picked one wicket each.
