Thrilling Day 2 In Duleep Trophy as India A Dominates and India C Sets a Massive Total

Duleep Trophy Day 2 update

Duleep Trophy Day 2 update: The Duleep Trophy 2024 has reached a thrilling phase with matches between India A vs India D and India B vs India C unfolding gripping narratives on the field. On Day 2 of the tournament, we saw India A assert their dominance against India D, while India C posted a massive total, giving India B a tough task ahead.

India A’s bowlers displayed a fantastic performance, keeping India D’s batting line-up under control throughout Day 2. After posting a competitive first-innings total of 290 runs, India A’s bowlers never allowed India D to settle into any rhythm. They regularly picked up wickets, preventing any real partnership from blossoming.

In the 4th match of the Duleep Trophy, India C continued their dominance from Day 1, where they had ended the day at 357 for 5. With a strong batting display, they extended their first innings total to a massive 525 runs.

Despite a valiant effort from Devdutt Padikkal, who held the innings together with a composed knock of 92 runs, the rest of India D’s batting line-up faltered under pressure. Had it not been for Padikkal’s resilience, the scorecard would have looked even bleaker. The India D innings ended at 183, giving India A a significant 222-run lead.

With this comfortable cushion, India A’s openers began their second innings confidently, setting up a strong opening stand. However, just before the end of the day, Mayank Agarwal fell to a sharp delivery, handing a bit of relief to India D. However India A remains in a commanding position with a lot of time left in the game.

Wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan was the star of the innings, smashing a century with 111 runs to his name. His innings were complemented by fine knocks from Indrajith, who scored 78, and Manav Suthar, who added a valuable 82. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad also contributed with 58 runs, anchoring the innings at crucial points. In response, India B came out with a solid approach in their first innings.

Openers Abhimanyu Easwaran and N Jagadeesan put up a steady show, ensuring their team didn’t lose any early wickets. By the close of play on Day 2, Easwaran remained unbeaten on 51 from 91 balls, while Jagadeesan held his ground with a patient 67 from 126 balls. With India B at 124/0 by the end of Day 2, they’ve given themselves a strong foundation, but with a huge target of 525, they still have a long road ahead to remain competitive in this contest.
