RCB’s 2021 IPL campaign finally ended in Qualifier 1 with a 4 wicket loss to KKR. The match came down to the wire, however, KKR did their job and chased down 139 with two deliveries to play. With this, an era finally ended as well. Virat Kohli stated before the UAE leg that he will step down as the RCB skipper at the end of the show.
The Eliminator match proved out to be Kohli’s final captaincy responsibility for RCB, as the Bangalore-based franchise would not advance any further in the IPL 2021. Despite the fact that he will continue to serve the club as a player, he will not be going out for toss and collecting those statistics for the following season. Because RCB has yet to win the IPL, skipper Kohli will not ever taste victory in the prestigious tournament.

Despite Kohli is dissatisfied with the outcome, he is delighted with the way his squad performed. The star cricketer turned to Twitter and wrote a heartfelt message. Kohli praised his fans and teamwork for their unconditional support, regardless of the fact that things did not go as planned.

Kohli is among the most effective batters in the competition’s history. He had a number of fantastic impacts in the league throughout the years. In fact, his 973 runs in 2016 set a new record for the most by a batsman in the particular season. RCB made it to the playoffs 3 times during his tenure, but each time they fell short. Despite this, Kohli has stated that he will continue to serve RCB till he retires from the IPL.

This franchise has believed in me and my commitment is to this franchise till the last day I play in the IPL,” the 32-year-old said in the post-match presentation.
