Early and personal life

The legendary Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly was born on July 8, 1972, in Kolkata, India. Sourav showed a profound love for cricket from an early age, spending hours practising on the streets. His father and older brother in particular were a huge source of encouragement and inspiration for him. 

Sourav represented his school and district teams while achieving academic excellence and dominating cricket. His early experiences and character traits helped him develop great leadership skills, which helped him become a renowned figure in Indian cricket.

Sourav Ganguly’s career was studded with countless memorable moments and remarkable achievements. One of the most unforgettable moments was when he led India to the final of the 2003 ICC Cricket World Cup. 

He was also instrumental in India’s historic test series victory against Australia in 2001, where he scored centuries on the big stage. Ganguly’s contributions to Indian cricket were recognized with several accolades, including the prestigious Padma Shri award.
