Quinton de Kock once again showed his ability to perform against a big team, as the left-handed batter entered the crease with nothing but a destructive mindset and smashed the ball all around the park to complete his century.

He scored a total of 115 in only 68 deliveries with the help of eight fours and nine maximums. De Kock with this knock claimed the top spot in highest run-getter in CPL 2024 with 308 runs in five games at an average of 77.

Jason Holder’s late heroics of 10-ball 28* after De Kock’s exploits guided the Barbados Royals to post 205 in 20 overs.

Holder, Maharaj restrict Guyana to 173

Chasing a target of over 200 is never going to be an easy task for any team, as many failed to soak that pressure, and same happened with Guyana, who started the game as the only defeat less team, trapped in huge target’s pressure.

Not to forget the excellent bowling performances by Jason Holder and spinner Keshav Maharaj, who both collected 5 wickets combined.

After losing their top 2 batters inside the powerplay, Shimron Hetmyer (28 off 10) and skipper Shai Hope tried to rescure the side, but they were not able to build a long partnership.

Shai Hope, who came in at number 3 at 1.1 overs, remained at the crease till 13.2 overs, but only scored 40 off 34, which wasn’t enough while chasing a big total.

Moeen Ali’s 19-ball 33 and Keemo Paul’ 18-ball 30* played their part significantly, but the damage had already been done, as the required run-rate was extremely high, and their knocks only managed to narrow the losing gap by to 32 runs.
