Biggest Buys in WPL Auction
The exciting inaugural WPL Auction ended on a positive note, where RCB became the highest bidder, which spent Rs 3.4 crore on Smriti Mandhana. Ashleigh Gardner, and Nat Sciver each bagged a sum of Rs 3.2 crore after being signed by the Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Giants, respectively.
Smriti Mandhana – 3.40 cr
Biggest Buys in WPL Auction:Smriti Mandhana has consistently shown out as one of India’s top performers, showcasing her talent in all formats as well as in the Big Bash League and the Women’s Hundred.
During the Women’s T20 Challenge, Smriti also led the Trailblazers. The graceful left-handed batter offers the option of captaincy in addition to performance and marketability.
Ashleigh Gardner – 3.20 cr
The Gujarat Giants franchise has bought the services of the star all-rounder Ashleigh Gardner for the second biggest bid of INR 3.20 cr.
The Australia all-rounder’s bid was started at 50 lakhs, with the presence of UP Warriors, a bidding war quickly reached INR 1 crore. Mumbai bid aggressively for her, pushing the price over INR 2 crore. Gujarat Giants then joined the party at INR 2.8 crore. In the end, Gujarat Giants bagged the services of Ashleigh Gardner for INR 3.2 crore, becoming the highest paid Australian player in the WPL list.
Nat Sciver – 3.20 cr
During the inaugural Women’s Premier League (WPL) auction in Mumbai on Monday, Mumbai Indians paid Rs 3.2 crore to acquire English all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt.
Prior to the entry of the Delhi Capitals and UP Warriorz, Mumbai started the bidding at Sciver-base Brunt’s price of Rs. 50 lakh. The bid soon crossed the 3 crores mark. Mumbai, however, had the last laugh.
