BCCI to Receive Asia Cup Trophy in 48 Hours; Mohsin Naqvi May Face ICC Action

BCCI Expects Asia Cup Trophy Delivery Soon

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Devajit Saikia has provided a new update on the Asia Cup 2025 trophy, revealing that the Indian board expects to receive it “within a day or two.” If that does not happen, the matter will be escalated to the International Cricket Council (ICC) for necessary action. So let’s know about BCCI Expects Asia Cup Trophy Delivery Soon.

India’s Dominant Asia Cup Campaign

India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, showcased complete dominance in the Asia Cup 2025 by defeating Pakistan three times in a row — including a thrilling final victory. The Men in Blue’s emphatic performance sealed their championship win in style.

Controversy Over the Trophy Handover

Following the final, India refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and ACC President Mohsin Naqvi. This was due to his derogatory remarks about India prior to the tournament. Naqvi was heavily booed by fans during the presentation ceremony and reportedly took the trophy away, keeping it under his custody.

Even after a month since India’s triumph, the trophy has not yet been handed over. This has caused disappointment within the BCCI.

“Yes, we are a little unhappy with the way the trophy has not been given to us even after a month,” said Devajit Saikia to PTI.
“We are pursuing the matter. About 10 days ago, we wrote a letter to the ACC chairman, but there has been no change in their stance.”

BCCI Prepared to Escalate the Issue

Saikia further stated that if the situation doesn’t resolve soon, the BCCI will raise the issue in the ICC meeting scheduled in Dubai on November 4.

“On behalf of the BCCI, we are fully prepared to deal with the matter, and I can assure the people of India that the trophy will come back — only the timeline is not fixed. We are the champions. Everything is on record — only the trophy is missing,” Saikia asserted.

Possible Action Against Mohsin Naqvi

If the Asia Cup trophy is not returned within 48 hours, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi could face action from the ICC for misconduct and non-compliance with post-tournament procedures.

India vs South Africa Test Series Update

Saikia also provided insights into the upcoming India vs South Africa Test in Guwahati, noting that the start times may be adjusted due to early sunrise and sunset in the eastern region.

“To accommodate six hours of play per day, there may be a swapping of sessions, with the tea break possibly coming before lunch,” Saikia explained.
