BBL Pushes All 8-Teams To Victoria Hub To Confront COVID

The Australian T20 league has shifted all 8 teams to a Victorian surface despite the distractions in the current Big Bash League season. Since the Covid-19 pandemic has affected multiple teams, this decision has been made to address the issues produced by the dangerous virus.

In reality, the pandemic forced the postponement of multiple games. Two of these delays have been restored in the revised timetable, which runs from January 10 to 16, and includes 11 games. Whereas the Melbourne Stars were slated to play the Perth Scorchers on December 30, the 2 teams will instead meet on January 11. It should be mentioned that 13 players on Maxwell’s team tested positive for COVID.

Their match against the Adelaide Strikers, which had been delayed, will now be played on January 15. Furthermore, all of the teams’ participants and admin staff will be accommodated in Victoria for the duration of the event, in accordance with reinforced biosecurity regulations. Meanwhile, a few games will still be contested in other states using a fly-in, fly-out format.

The Strikers’ home matches versus the Scorchers & Stars on January 14 and 15, accordingly, are scheduled to begin at 10:10 AM. Notwithstanding the circumstances in the nation over the COVID crisis, BBL authorities are determined about finishing the competition. The T20 league is getting ready to release the schedule for the rest of the season, which is expected to finish on January 19.

“The past week has thrown many Covid-related challenges the Big Bash’s way, but throughout, we have remained steadfast in our resolve to safely and successfully complete the season,” said the BBL general manager Alistair Dobson.

“These changes are designed to help the league and clubs deliver on this, while also reducing risks to players, support staff, and the matches themselves. Having our players based in one state provides significantly greater flexibility to manage any further impacts of Covid-19,” he added. As a result, it remains to be seen if the competition can proceed without more setbacks. The incidence of covid-19 instances in Australia is growing on a daily basis.
