Australia’s best playing 11 for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

The Australian women’s cricket team is gearing up to for their title defence as the team appears to be extremely strong on paper for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. Let’s look at Australia’s best playing 11 for Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Australia won the marquee event for record six times out of eight and are the champions of the previous three editions. The major change they will witness in this edition will be star captain Meg Lanning’s absence, who already announced his retirement from international cricket.

Under Lanning, Australia won five Women’s World Cups (4 T20Is, 2014,16,20,23) and one ODI World Cup in 2023.

Alyssa Healy is now the regular skipper of Australia Women’s team, and the team is looking well prepared for the mega event

Destructive batters

Australia’s batting line-up is considered as the strongest line-up in the world, and the world rankings proves that right. The presence of number 1 ranked Beth Mooney, and number 2 Tahlia McGrath make the team a formidable force.

Their skipper is nothing short of extraordinary with the bat, as Healy, who is current at seventh spot in rankings has a strike rate nearing 130 in T20Is. Litchfield’s ability to play both anchor and aggressive makes her one of the best in T-20 cricket.

Match-winning all-rounders

Elysse Perry needs no introduction, as all knows how good she is as an all-rounder in T-20 cricket. While Ashleigh Gardner, Grace Harris, Sophie Molineux and Annabel Sutherland further strengths the department with their match-winning skills.

Excellent Bowlers

Experienced Megan Schutt will lead the pace bowling attack for Australia, her skill to swing the ball with accuracy, is a major positive point for the defending champions. While Alana King could be Australia’s X-factor player with the ball due to her spin variation ability.
