Australia got off to a slow start in their innings, lost Aaron Finch for a duck. Later David Warner made good progress for the second wicket to keep the hopes alive. As they picked up steam, Pakistan’s skipper changed strategies, introducing Shadab Khan into the attack, who appeared to be a threat for the Australian batting unit, grabbing 4 wickets in his spell, for boosting Pakistan’s prospects of reaching the finals.
Australia lost track in the middle-order lineup after losing back-to-back wickets, making it tough to create partnerships between the wickets. Marcus Stoinis and Matthew Wade, who exploited all of their power to lead the side from the front, hitting the ball over the ropes to put pressure on Pakistan’s bowling attack in the final overs.
However, after so many twists and turns, Australia reached the finals to face New Zealand on 14th November, Sunday.
