The Australian women showed persistence as they pulled towards the victory in the end. Megan Schutt’s firey bowling performances made it difficult for the Sri Lankan batters to get the run flow going.

Even though with the ball the Sri Lankan women tried to pick a couple of wickets early on they failed to stop Mooney and Litchfield from taking Australia towards victory.

After winning the toss the Sri Lanka women opted to bat first, however, their hopes were shattered when the wickets kept tumbling. Only Harshitha Madavi (23) and Nilakshi De Silva (29) were able to score more than 20 runs.

While for Megan Schutt was the standout performer with the ball as she picked up three wickets and coincided with just 12 runs in her four overs. Molineux also contributed with two wickets, while Gardner and Wareham chipped in with one wicket each. This combined effort from the Australian bowlers made sure they were restricted to 93/7 in 20 overs.

Australian Women Make it Look it Easy With The Bat.

Even after losing a couple of wickets the Australian women stood strong on the crease and won the game by 6 wickets. Mooney was the star performer with 43 runs not out from 38 balls. Her amazing performance included four amazing fours, she made sure that Australia crossed the line.

In the end, the defending champions made sure they won their opening game of the ICC T20 World Cup. Megan Schutt was awarded the player of the match for her brilliant bowling spell that helped the Australian women to restrict the women in blue for less than 100 runs.
