Melbourne Renegades secured their fourth win in Women’s Big Bash League 2024-25 to reach second spot after defeating Adelaide Strikers by nine wickets in match 23 at Adelaide. Let look at AS-W vs MR-W Highlights. 

Chasing a big target of 186 was never a problem for the Renegades, as their in-form top-order batter made the chase a cake walk.  

It was Adelaide’s fifth defeat of the season, and they remain in last in the WBBL 2024-25 points table, while Renegades moved up to second from third with a win.

Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades Highlights  

Invited to bat, the Strikers openers provided their side with a solid start with 56-run opening stand in 35 balls before Katie Mack got out for 19 on the final delivery of the powerplay.  

Smriti Mandhana, who was the aggressor during the opening stand scored a 25-ball 40. Laura Wolvaardt (27) and skipper Tahlia McGrath then added 66 for the third wicket.  

McGrath’s 49 off 24 during the middle overs, and Orla Prendergast’s 24 at a strike of 200 guided Adelaide Strikers to 185 in 20 overs.

Melbourne Renegades got off to a flying start and recorded 101 for the first wicket before Webb retired hurt at 37.  

Alice Capsey was out for 4, which was Renegades only dismissal in the match. Hayley Matthews continued to play aggressive cricket from one end and played a sensational knock of 85 not out off 54. 

While Deandra Dottin, who joined her at the middle after Capsey’s wicket, went on to score 46* off just 18 with the help of seven fours and a maximum, as Renegades chased down the target with nine wickets in hand and 17 balls yet to spare.  

Skipper Hayley Matthews remained the individual top-scorer in the game with her match-winning 54-ball 85* during the chase, while she bagged two wickets with the ball as well to receive player of the match award.
