Matthews’ resilience saw her return to bat four times, complementing her earlier 4 for 56 that limited Scotland. She became the first female captain and fourth woman overall to record a century and a four-wicket haul in an ODI. At 27 years and 111 days, she’s the second-youngest to nine ODI centuries, behind Meg Lanning, achieving it in 88 innings. Matching Lanning and Suzie Bates, Matthews has now scored hundreds against seven teams, with Scotland her latest. Despite the loss, her all-round mastery shone brightly.
