IPL 2022 GT vs PBKS Match Highlights, Gujarat Titans faced off Punjab Kings in the 48th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Mumbai. PBKS defeated GT by eight wickets. Punjab made a strong comeback from their previous lost match, showcasing exceptional performance from both departments securing a much-needed victory.

Despite winning the toss and electing to bat first, Hardik Pandya’s team failed to clinch a victory. GT openers  Wriddhiman Saha was dismissed by Kagiso Rabada for 21 (17) and Shubman Gill 9 (6) was dismissed for a run out within the powerplay overs, followed by their skipper Hardik Pandya, who was removed by Rishi Dhawan for only one run, putting his team in a lot of trouble.

With the exception of Sai Sudharsan, who batted third, the following hitters were all removed in a swift session while failing to deal with the PBKS bowlers. Liam Livingstone has dismissed David Miller 11 (14).  Rabada was the standout bowler here on the night, bowling an outstanding 17th-over in which the Titans lost Rahul Tewatia at 11(13) and Rashid Khan went out for a golden duck.

Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan was the sole hitter from GT who was aggressive and confident with his strike, which improved the score on board. His brilliant effort from 50-ball-65 runs offered Gujarat a sigh of relief as they posted a respectable total of 144 having lost 8 wickets.

PBKS were strong in both departments, with the bowling unit limiting GT to a decent margin, particularly Rabada with a four-wicket haul, while Arshdeep Singh, Rishi Dhawan, and Livingstone one wicket apiece making consistent breakthroughs.

In the pursuit of the score, the Punjab batting order had a strong start to the innings. Punjab’s only batsman who failed to grasp the pitch conditions seemed to be Jonny Bairstow. However, Shikhar Dhawan, the other opening batsman for the side, struck a fantastic knock of undefeated 53 ball-62run to retain the game more exciting.

Whereas Bhanuka Rajapaksa, who scored 40 runs off 28 balls, including five fours and a six, was bowled by Lockie Ferguson. Mohammed Shami bowled the 16th over for GT, which became the most expensive over of the innings, surrendering 28 runs. The next hitter for Punjab, Liam Livingstone, used the over to execute a match-winning knock with a powerful strike rate of 300, scoring 10ball-30 runs, leaving the equation much easier to cross the finish line.

Despite losing just two wickets, PBKS defeated GT by eight wickets, with 24 balls left in spare. However, this setback will not have much of an impact on Gujarat’s dominance on the points table, but it will ensure Punjab improves its confidence and take a step forward in the rankings.
