Which Team has weakest middle order in IPL 2025?

As the IPL 2025 season unfolds, some teams have showcased dominance, while others have faltered in crucial moments. Among the teams struggling to find their rhythm, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have emerged as two of the teams with weakest middle-order so far. Their performances have been marred by middle-order collapses, failed chases, and an inability to capitalize on solid starts. Let us dive into the details of Which Team has the weakest middle order in IPL 2025.

CSK’s batting woes

Chennai Super Kings, known for their legacy of consistency, have found themselves in trouble due to poor middle-order contributions. In two consecutive chases—197 and 183—they fell short despite decent starts. Their inability to accelerate during the final overs has resulted in disappointing defeats.

In their 183-run chase, Ruturaj Gaikwad played a captain’s knock, scoring 63 off 44 balls, but there was no support from other middle-order batters. Ravindra Jadeja (32* off 22) and MS Dhoni (16 off 11) tried to stabilize the innings, but it was too late. Similarly, in the 197-run chase, CSK crumbled under pressure, managing only 146/8 in 20 overs.

Key players like Deepak Hooda, Shivam Dube, and Sam Curran have underperformed, leaving the team in disarray. While the bowling unit has done a fair job, CSK’s batting inconsistencies have made them one of the weakest sides this season after the first two weeks of the competition.

LSG’s collapse despite strong starts

Lucknow Super Giants, too, have struggled to convert good starts into match-winning totals. In a recent game, after reaching 161/2 in just 13.3 overs, they were expected to post an unassailable total. However, the middle-order collapsed, and they ended with 209/8.

Despite having power hitters like Nicholas Pooran (75 off 30) and Mitchell Marsh (72 off 36), LSG’s finishing has been a major concern. Skipper Rishabh Pant and all-rounders like Ayush Badoni and Shardul Thakur have failed to deliver under pressure till now.

Will they bounce back?

While both CSK and LSG have quality players, their inability to finish games has cost them crucial points. If they don’t fix their middle-order woes soon, they could find themselves too far from the IPL 2025 playoffs race.
