Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted a daunting total of 205/5 in their 20 overs after being put in to bat by Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The innings was once again anchored by the ever-dependable Virat Kohli, who dazzled with a stunning 70 off just 42 balls, smashing 4 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 166.67. Philip Salt provided a brisk start with a 23-ball 26 before falling to Wanindu Hasaranga. Kohli then shared a crucial 95-run partnership with Devdutt Padikkal, who brought the fireworks with a 27-ball 50, peppered with 7 boundaries and a six. Their stand took RCB from a solid start to a powerful position.

Although Rajat Patidar and Tim David fell in quick succession during the death overs, the latter’s quick 23 off 15 helped maintain the momentum. Jitesh Sharma added an unbeaten 20 off just 10 balls to push the total past the 200 mark.

Rajasthan’s bowlers had a tough outing, with Sandeep Sharma picking up 2 wickets but conceding 45 runs. Jofra Archer and Hasaranga took one each, while the rest struggled with their lines, leaking 14 extras in wides alone. 

RCB’s batting fireworks have set a challenging target of 206 for Rajasthan Royals, who will need a strong and steady chase on a batting-friendly surface in Bengaluru.

With this innings, Kohli became the first player ever to reach 3500 runs at a single venue in T20s, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.  

Kohli’s milestone-filled evening saw him become the first batter in T20 history to score 3500 runs at a single venue, underlining his unmatched legacy at Chinnaswamy. This was also his fifth fifty of the IPL 2025 season, reaffirming his sublime form.
