IPL 2025: Sanju Samson to return as Captain and Wicketkeeper for RR

Sanju Samson Cleared to Return as RR Captain and Wicketkeeper for IPL 2025

Sanju Samson who was sidelined from captaincy and wicket-keeping for the first 3-matches of Rajasthan Royals is set to return back to his duties. RR who started their season in an underwhelming way, will be hopeful to gain their form back, as their captain returns. Let’s take a look at Sanju Samson Cleared to Return as RR Captain and Wicketkeeper.

Sanju Samson’s Stance

Sanju Samson whose index finger was struck by Jofra Archer’s bouncer in the 5th T20I against England, he had to undergo surgery and was in rehabilitation for a few months. As the IPL came ahead, he wasn’t fully fit to wicket keep or even captain the side for a full match. RR has decided to sideline him for the first three matches and use Samson purely for batting purposes. Samson was pretty decent with his batting. In RR’s first match he scored 66, and in the next match he scored 13 and 20 respectively. As he is set to return fully fledged with his captaincy and wicket keeping duties, he will surely be performing at his top level.

Where do Rajasthan Royals stand currently?

Rajasthan started their IPL 2025 campaign with a loss against SRH, their awful start continued against KKR in their second league match. In Riyan Parag’s last match as captain which was against CSK, most of the fans who expected Chennai to sail past RR easily, were shocked to witness RR grab victory against CSK in Guwahati.

Rajasthan is currently positioned in the 9th spot, with just 2 points to their name. What lies ahead for them, is their captain returning from an injury and their next 3 matches being against in-form teams Punjab Kings, Gujarat Titans and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
