KKR vs RCB 1st Match Highlights of IPL 2025

In the exciting match at iconic Eden Gardens, Kolkata, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) triumphed over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 7 wickets in the opening match of the Indian Premier League 2025. So Let’s take a look at KKR vs RCB 1st Match Highlights of IPL 2025.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru Match Highlights

After being invited to bat first, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced an uphill battle from the start. The innings got off to a rough start as wickets began to tumble at regular intervals. Quinton de Kock’s performance was particularly disappointing, contributing just 4 runs before being dismissed early, which set a dangerous tone for the innings.

Narine and Rahane Fightback Unable to Save KKR as RCB Strike

However, Sunil Narine (44) and Ajinkya Rahane (56) stepped in to restore some balance, showcasing resilience in the middle order. While their partnership provided a flash of hope, KKR’s lineup struggled considerably against the disciplined bowling attack of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Key dismissals in the middle order, most notably the big-hitting Andre Russell, the promising Rinku Singh, and the talented Venkatesh Iyer, severely restricted KKR’s momentum. Ultimately, the team managed to set a total of 174 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

On the bowling front, RCB’s Josh Hazlewood emerged as a key player, claiming 2 wickets with his consistent line and length, while Krunal Pandya was exceptional, taking 3 wickets and applying pressure during crucial moments. Yash Dayal and Suyash Sharma also played vital roles, delivering tight spells that kept the KKR batsmen in check.

Salt and Kohli’s Partnership Guides RCB

Chasing a target of 175, RCB began their innings with confidence. Opener Philip Salt set the tone with an explosive 56 runs. Following closely was Virat Kohli, who demonstrated his trademark composure and remained unbeaten with 59 runs. Together, Salt and Kohli generated a match-winning partnership, directing the chase with precision.

Rajat Patidar was out for 34 runs, causing a slight gap in the middle order. However, Kohli stayed strong, and Liam Livingstone helped with an important 15 runs. Together, they led RCB to a comfortable win, finishing the game with 16 balls left, and winning by 7 wickets.

KKR’s bowlers, including Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine, fought valiantly, but they were unable to contain the attack from RCB’s formidable top order.
