Batting first, CSK lit up the scoreboard with a formidable total of 230/5. Young opener Ayush Mhatre smashed a blistering 34 off 17, while Devon Conway (52 off 35) and Dewald Brevis (57 off 23) provided fireworks in the middle.  

Contributions from Urvil Patel and Shivam Dube added to the momentum, while Ravindra Jadeja chipped in with a quick 21*. GT’s bowlers struggled to contain the assault, with only Rashid Khan managing to keep things somewhat tight. 

GT stumbles at the finish line 

In reply, Gujarat Titans faltered under scoreboard pressure and were bowled out for 147 in 18.3 overs.  

Only Sai Sudharsan (41 off 28) showed some resistance. CSK’s bowlers—led by Ravindra Jadeja (3-17), Noor Ahmad (2-13), and the impressive Anshul Kamboj (3-30)—dominated proceedings.  

The Titans now sit on 18 points and must rely on Lucknow Super Giants to beat RCB on May 27 to secure a top-two finish. 

CSK’s outlook for IPL 2026 

Despite a dismal season, CSK unearthed exciting young talent in Ayush Mhatre, Urvil Patel, and Dewald Brevis, all of whom showcased explosive hitting ability.  CSK’s focus shifts to nurturing this next-gen core. If their final stretch is anything to go by, Chennai could roar back stronger in IPL 2026, with a rebuilt identity and fresh hunger.
