NZ vs IND 3rd T20I Match Highlights
NZ vs IND 3rd T20I Match Highlights: The third and final T20I between India and New Zealand got affected by rain. The contest has been abandoned. It’s a draw on DLS, according to what the umpires told the skippers. Indian wins the series 1-0.
IND VS NZ: INDIA CHASE IMPACTED BY RAIN
While chasing 161, India did not have the most comfortable start. They lost their first wicket in the second over itself. Then there was a series of wickets falling in the next over. India lost 3 wickets at the score of 21 only. Shreyas Iyer got out on the first ball. Then SKY went back to the pavilion after adding just 13 runs. We could only see a small cameo from Hardik who scored a quick fire 30 off 18 balls before the match got affected by rain.
By the rule of DLS, India were supposed to be at 75 at the end of 9 overs. They were exactly at 75 and thus the match was tied. India wins the series by 1-0.
IND VS NZ: KIWIS LAGGING BEHIND IN FIRST INNINGS
In the first innings, New Zealand posted a total of 160. It was much below par the expected score according to how they were playing in the first half of the innings. Siraj skimmed through the Kiwi batting attack and stumped them with short balls. He knocked 4 wickets. Arshdeep Singh helped the pacer by taking 4 wickets as well but it was a little expensive for the Indian side.
IND VS NZ The Player of the Match and Player of the Series
Mohammed Siraj was given the Player of the Match award for his brilliant spell in which he took 4 wickets by giving away just 17 runs. He talked about his performance. He said. “The wicket wasn’t easy to bat and I was prepared to bowl hard lengths which gave me the rewards. I prepared myself to bowl hard lengths and had so much practice during World Cup and I just executed my plans. I always keep it simple. Just bowl the hard lengths. The weather is not in our hands, happy with the series win.”
The Player of the Series award was given to Suryakumar Yadav for his lunatic batting throughout the series. Talking of the same, he said. “Really happy with the way things have gone till now, would have loved a full game here but as Siraj said the weather is not in our hands. The pressure is always there and at the same time I’m enjoying my batting, just going there and expressing myself. Not carrying any baggage out there. The intent and approach will remain the same. We can just go out and express ourselves, would have loved a full game, but that’s fine.”
IND VS NZ CONCLUSION
This is India’s 10th consecutive series win in 2022. The T20Is have concluded, so to speak. Let’s hope the weather stays clear in Auckland as these two teams square off for the first of a three-match ODI series on Friday. Rain has affected all three games.
