The World Cup is over and it was quite a journey. After gaining most points in the league stage, Team India failed in the semis, yet again. But there is no break after this. Immediately following the ICC T20 World Cup in 2022, Team India will embark on a white-ball tour to New Zealand. VVS Laxman will serve as the head coach of Team India.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to rest Rahul Dravid for the tour of New Zealand. Notably, after a year on the job, Rahul Dravid is under intense criticism for his coaching abilities. The ICC T20 World Cup 2022 for India came to a humiliating conclusion. The Men in Blue were sent back home as they lost to England by a margin of 10 wickets.
VVS Laxman as India Coach for New Zealand Tour
The legendary Indian batsman VVS Laxman presently serves as the head of the National Cricket Academy of the BCCI in Bangalore.
This year’s tours of Ireland and Zimbabwe, as well as the South Africa home series before the T20 World Cup in October, were all coached by the former India international.
A BCCI official talked about the coaching staff. He said, “The support staff of the Indian team in the ongoing T20 World Cup-head coach Rahul Dravid, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and batting coach Vikram Rathour will return to India after the tournament to take a well-deserved break after being on the road for the past couple of months. They will then go for the Bangladesh tour with Team India. Hrishikesh Kanitkar (batting coach) and Sairaj Bahutule (bowling coach) will be with Laxman as support staff of the Indian team there,”
