Rishabh Pant, India’s key wicketkeeper-batter, was rushed to a Manchester hospital for scans after sustaining a severe foot injury on Day 1 of the 4th Test against England. Struck by a Chris Woakes yorker, Pant’s right toe swelled with a visible cut and blood, causing intense pain. Unable to stand, he was assisted off the field by physios and taken away in an ambulance.
This marks Pant’s second injury in two matches, raising concerns for head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Shubman Gill. The BCCI confirmed Pant’s condition is under observation. Sai Sudharsan, who scored a maiden Test fifty, noted the team’s worry but said updates are awaited.
