Team India squad for T20 World Cup
BCCI has announced the team India squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Monday.
As expected Rohit Sharma to lead the team in Australia for the showpiece event, while KL Rahul will work as his deputy in the tournament.
The team resembles the one that competed in the Asia Cup quite a bit, with Bumrah and Harshal Patel returned to the squad again after recovering from their injuries. In contrast, Mohammad Shami will go to Australia as a backup player.
Kohli, who recently smashed his 71st international century after a long wait maintained to retain his spot in the squad. While the top-ranked Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav and Deepak Hooda also selected to provide middle-order strength to the team.
Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik were picked as the Wicket-keeper batters.
While Axar Patel has given chance in place of injured Ravindra Jadeja.
Team India have included spinners – Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, while Ravi Bishnoi was the unlucky one to miss out.
Team India have trusted their Asia Cup main pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh, while the return of Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel will solve Indian team’s fast bowling option puzzle in the big event.
Mohammad Shami, Shreyas Iyer, Ravi Bishnoi, and Deepak Chahar have been named as the four stand by players for the T20 Championship event.
India will start their World Cup campaign on October 23 against the arch-rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. However, before that, the men in blue will play two warm-up games on October 17 against Australia, and on October 19 against New Zealand, both the matches will be played at The Gabba.
