But the 2023 ODI World Cup has produced interesting results. The wickets have offered everything for everyone. It has kept the pacers interested across the different phases of the game. These pacers have delivered the goods for their team.

#10 Shoriful Islam – Bangladesh
He bowled a brilliant ball to dismiss Reeza Hendricks in the game against South Africa. Shoriful Islam has out bowled his fellow left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman in this tournament.
#9 David Willey – England
The likes of Reece Topley, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood were England’s first choice pacers. But it has been David Willey who has been the most effective in these conditions. It was his left-arm pace that kept England in the game albeit briefly against Sri Lanka.
#8 Naveen-ul-Haq – Afghanistan
He produced one of the deliveries of the tournament when he dismissed Jos Buttler at Delhi. Naveen-ul-Haq who is set to retire from ODIs after this World Cup is Afghanistan’s numero uno pacer. He needs to step up in the coming games.
#7 Logan van Beek – Netherlands
He is the spearhead of the pace attack for Netherlands. Logan van Been has been impressive with his wicket-taking abilities. He picked up 4 wickets in the game against Australia despite it being a high scoring game.
#6 Shaheen Shah Afridi – Pakistan
He was touted to set the World Cup on fire but Shaheen Shah Afridi hasn’t been the same bowler after his injury. His pace has dropped a couple of yards allowing batters extra time to line him up. He picked up a 5-wicket haul against Australia. But Pakistan needs more from its star pacer.

#5 Josh Hazlewood – Australia
He bowled a brilliant spell against India to reduce them to 2-3. Josh Hazlewood has been Australia’s top pacer in the World Cup so far. His hard lengths have been difficult for batters to get away.
#4 Matt Henry – New Zealand
The right-arm seamer keeps flying under the radar. He was one of the main reasons why New Zealand made it to the finals of the 2019 World Cup. Matt Henry has been spot on with his line and length in this tournament too.
#3 Dilshan Madushanka – Sri Lanka
He might have gone wicketless against England but he was spot on right from ball one. Dilshan Madushanka deserved the wicket of Jonny Bairstow with the very first delivery.
#2 Marco Jansen – South Africa
The South African speedster has been brilliant with the new ball. Marco Jansen, operating from a height of 6’8 makes life difficult for most batters. He might still want to improve upon his death bowling skills though.
#1 Jasprit Bumrah – India
He is miles ahead of any pacer in this World Cup. It is hard to imagine that Jasprit Bumrah was away from the game for almost a year. He has set the tone for India in almost every game. Bumrah has reinforced the tag of being the best bowler in the world across formats.
