#6 Moin Khan – 30
He was one of the most famous voices behind the stumps. Moin Khan was an absolute character on the field. He was known for his batting pyrotechnics. Khan was a solid keeper too. He affected 30 dismissals across 3 World Cup editions from 1992-99. Khan was part of Pakistan’s World Cup-winning team in 1992. 7 of his 30 dismissals came in the form of stumping and he plucked 23 catches.
#5 Mark Boucher – 31
His career came to an agonizing end with 999 international dismissals across formats. Mark Boucher is one of the most underrated players in the game. He hardly ever dropped anything and was an effective batter down the order. Boucher represented South Africa in 3 World Cups from 1999-2007. He is fifth on the list of keepers with the most dismissals (31). Boucher played 25 games affecting 1.24 dismissals per game.
#4 Brendon McCullum – 32
He was one of the more enterprising wicketkeepers. Brendon McCullum kept wickets in the early part of his career. He was a terrific outfielder too. The Kiwi talisman played 4 World Cups from 2003-15. He led the side to finals in the 2015 edition. McCullum has 32 dismissals to his name in just 25 innings as a keeper. 30 of those came through catches and he affected 2 stumpings.
#3 MS Dhoni – 42
He is ten clear of the next best on the list. MS Dhoni is the only keeper batsman in the history of the game to lead his side to a World Cup win. He was arguably the one who made the job of keeping look cool. Dhoni featured in four World Cups from 2007-19 leading the side in the 2011 and the 2015 editions. He affected 42 dismissals in 29 games with 34 catches and 8 stumpings.
#2 Adam Gilchrist – 52
He is the only batsman in the history of the game to score three consecutive fifties in the World Cup finals. Adam Gilchrist scored a terrific century in his last World Cup game in the 2007 World Cup final. He was one of the three players from Australia to feature in all three World Cup-winning finals. Gilchrist is only one of the two keepers to affect more than 50 dismissals (52). 45 of those dismissals were catches and 7 were stumpings. His average of 1.677 per dismissal is the highest on this list!
#1 Kumar Sangakkara – 54
Taking the number one spot is Kumar Sangakkara. The Sri Lankan legend played four World Cups from 2003-15. He had his best edition in the 2015 World Cup wherein he scored 4 successive centuries. Sangakkara’s keeping though never really got its due. He had 54 dismissals in the World Cup in 36 innings. His 13 stumpings are a record with only Dhoni with 8 stumpings behind him. His average of 1.5 dismissals per game is the second-highest on this list.
