India Secured 12th consecutive ODI series win
India have continued their dominating run against the West Indies after defeating them in the second ODI of the 3-match series on Sunday to claim 12th consecutive ODI series against West Indies.
With this, team India created record of winning 12 back-to-back games against an opponent after surpassing Pakistan’s record of 11 consecutive wins over Zimbabwe.
When was the last time West Indies won the ODI series against India?
The last time West Indies won a bilateral series against India was in 2006 under Brain Lara. Since then, the men in maroon were unable to outlast the men in blue in the ODI series whether their tour to India or even at their home.
India, who are playing the ODI series without their star players against the Caribbean side, managed to beat the hosts in yet another series.
Their main players like, the regular skipper Rohit Sharma, ex-skipper Virat Kohli, destructive wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant and the speedster Jasprit Bumrah are on rest for ODI series.
In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, the veteran Shikhar Dhawan is leading the side and till now doing well as the visitors already sealed the series.
India won the first ODI on July 22 by 3 runs, and claim the victory in the second ODI by 2 wickets on July 24.
The final match of the series will take place at the Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain in Trinidad on July 27.
After the one-day series, India and West Indies will lock horns in the 5-match T20 series, starting July 29.
Team India’s regular captain will be back for the T20 series, with Rishabh Pant also join the squad. While KL Rahul, who wasn’t the part of India tour of England and the ODI series due to injury, will also likely to be able to play the T20s, subject to his fitness.
