AUS vs SL highlights Match 14 World Cup 2023

Australia finally made it to the winner’s circle with a five wicket win over Sri Lanka in Lucknow on Monday.

A 125-run opening stand between Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Perera was of no use for the Lankan side as the collapse after one wicket hammered their hopes of posting near 300 and they only managed to post 209.

Australia, in reply, also lost 2 wickets early, but Marsh and Labuschagne rescued the side from trouble, while Marsh gone for 52, Labuschagne played a knock of 40, Inglis was the highest run-scorer for the Aussies with 58.

AUS vs SL Highlights: Australia to chase 210 in 50 overs

Chasing a target of 210, Australia faced a blunder when Madushanka sent back Australia’s experienced campaigners, David Warner and Steven Smith early.

Mitchell Marsh, whose bat has been quite till now, soaked the pressure from Australia with a brilliant fifty, accompanied him Marnus Labuschagne, provided the Aussies a stage to smell the victory.

A run out sent Marsh back into the pavilion for 52, while Labuschagne’s anchor innings of 40 was ended by Madhushanka.

Josh Inglish, who came at the crease after Marsh’s dismissal, played a steady role in the middle, and went to score most runs for his side in the game with 58 and helped his side claimed their first win in the World Cup 2023.

This victory opened Australia’s points tally in the contest, and they now jumped from 10th to 8th spot, while Sri Lanka’s third consecutive win slipped them down.
