ICC WOMEN’S PLAYERS RANKING

After making her T20I debut little over a year ago, Tahlia McGrath has quickly risen to the top of the rankings because to her strong performances in the first two games against India in Mumbai.

McGrath has already solidified her position as Australia’s top order in all formats. She has so far scored 485 runs in T20Is in 10 innings at a strike rate of 149.69 and an average of 121.25. She contributed to Australia’s victory over India in the first T20I of the current series with an undefeated 40 off 29 balls, and then in the second game, which resulted in a Super Over loss, she added a 51-ball 70.

To become the fourth Australian and the 12th person overall to lead the table, she has moved up three positions, passing teammates Meg Lanning, Beth Mooney, and Smriti Mandhana. Five Australian batters are now present in the top ten on that list.

Sophie Devine, Shafali Verma, and Alyssa Healy were among the other batters to advance in the most recent rankings update. They each moved up one spot to positions fourth, sixth, and eighth, respectively. Following her 79 off 49 balls in the second T20I, Mandhana, who is ranked third on the table, has increased her rating 11 points, bringing it to a career-high 741 points.

Sarah Glenn moves up one rank to No. 2, and Katherine Brunt moves up one spot to No. 6.

Change in Women’s ODI Player Rankings

Ellyse Perry has surpassed Hayley Matthews to reclaim the top all-around spot in ODIs. Behind Karen Rolton (2725), Enid Bakewell (2611), and Stafanie Taylor, Perry has spent the fourth-most days at the top (1787) since initially claiming the top spot in February 2017. (1947).

After scoring an unbeaten 93 in the first ODI against Bangladesh, Suzie Bates rose five spots to take over the 17th spot among hitters for ODIs. In terms of bowling, Jess Kerr moved up two spots to 19th while Charlie Dean rose two spots to 16th.

Ranking Importance Ahead of Women’s T20 World Cup 2023

The ranking in the next two months will hold special importance because of upcoming women’s world cup. The opening match of the eighth ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, between hosts South Africa and Sri Lanka, will take place on February 10, 2023. The tournament matches will be played in Cape Town, Paarl, and Gqeberha, with the knockout rounds taking place there.

The final will take place on February 26, 2023, with a backup day scheduled for February 27 in case of significant play disruptions on the scheduled date.
