Records were shattered as Australia chased England’s target by five wickets in the fourth match of ICC Champions Trophy 2025 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. England set a tournament record with a total of 351/8, only for Australia to chase down the   352-run target, marking the highest successful chase in Champions Trophy history. Let’s have a look at the highest totals in Champions Trophy history. 

#5 India: 331/7

In the 2013 edition of Champions Trophy, India posted a strong 331/7 against South Africa, with Shikhar Dhawan leading the charge with a superb 114 off 94 balls. Rohit Sharma supported by contributing 65 off 81 balls. Ravindra Jadeja’s quick 47 off 29 balls added advantage to the total. Despite contributions from Virat Kohli (31) and MS Dhoni (27), Dinesh Karthik and Suresh Raina fell early. Indian bowlers then dominated, helping India secure a 26-run victory.

#4 Pakistan: 338/4

In the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Pakistan set a formidable total of 338/4 against India, with openers Fakhar Zaman (114 off 106) and Azhar Ali (59 off 71) forming a 128-run partnership. Babar Azam (46) and Mohammad Hafeez (57*) provided valuable contributions. Zaman’s aggressive century guided the innings. Pakistan triumphed by 180 runs, with Mohammad Amir (3/16) and Hasan Ali (3/19) leading a dominant bowling performance to secure their first Champions Trophy title.

#3 New Zealand: 347/4

In the 2004 edition of Champions Trophy, New Zealand posted a strong 347/4 against the USA. Nathan Astle led the charge with an unbeaten 145, supported by Scott Styris’ 75 and Craig McMillan’s explosive 64 off 27 balls. Despite early wickets, a dominant partnership propelled them. Jacob Oram’s 5/36 dismantled the USA, securing a 210-run victory.

#2 England: 351/8

England set a new Champions Trophy record with the highest-ever total, posting 351/8 against Australia in the 2025 edition. Ben Duckett’s magnificent 165 off 143 balls powered the innings at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Despite solid contributions from Joe Root (68), England’s total fell short as Australia successfully chased the target.

#1 Australia: 356/6

Australia now holds the record for the highest-ever successful run-chase in Champions Trophy history, overcoming England’s 352-run target with 356/5 in Lahore. Josh Inglis played a key role with an unbeaten 120, while Matthew Short (63), Alex Carey (69), and Glenn Maxwell (32*) contributed to the chase. England’s record 351/8 featured Ben Duckett’s remarkable 165, surpassing Nathan Astle’s previous highest individual score.
