Mohammed Shami, who struggled slightly during his first spell against India’s 2nd match of Champions Trophy against Pakistan, will be rested in favor of Arshdeep Singh.
Shami’s right leg issue, though he recovered during the match, has led the team management to avoid pushing him before the semi-finals on March 4. With New Zealand featuring five left-handed batters, Arshdeep’s angle is seen as more suitable for the pace attack. The team is balancing the need for rest with maintaining momentum in the competition, as they set their sights at the title charge, after losing out on the title in the 2017 edition.

From Group A India and New Zealand have made it through to the next round, and from Group B Australia and South Africa have made it through for the semi-final round. India’s next match against New Zealand will decide who will play the semi-final 1 between the table toppers.
If India wins the match against New Zealand, they will play against the mighty Australia, and if they lose the match, India will play against South Africa in the semi-final 2. And if India qualifies for the finals, the teams will play the final match in Dubai International Stadium.
