ICC Champions Trophy 2025 General Update
The ICC Champions Trophy 2025 is set to start from 19th February, 2025. From the tournament returning after a 8 year long break to it being on the verge of being halted, the tournament has endured a lot of challenges to finally commence this month. New Zealand’s Injury Surprise
New Zealand made a surprising late change to their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 squad as Ben Sears was ruled out due to a hamstring injury, as he is being replaced by Jacob Duffy. Sears had reportedly felt discomfort during a training session in Karachi, and scans had revealed a minor tear, which unfortunately requires two weeks of rest and rehab.
Apart from this, all-rounder Rachin Ravindra suffered a forehead injury while attempting a catch in the ODI Tri-series against Pakistan on February 8 at the Gaddafi Stadium. Though he has successfully passed a Head Injury Assessment, he was ruled out of the remaining matches of the tri-series which leaves us with doubts about his availability for the Champions Trophy, which starts from 19th of February.
Champions Trophy 2025 Prize Money Details
ICC is set to offer a total prize pool of $6.9 million, a 53% increase from the 2017 edition. The winner will receive $2.24 million which is approximately (₹1,94,93,440), the runners-up will get $1.12 million which is approximately (₹97,46,720). Losing semi-finalists will each earn $560,000 that is approximately (₹48,73,360), apart from this the lowest-ranked teams will receive $140,000 an approximate amount of (₹10,86,000)
The tournament, apart from the hybrid model for India, is being held in Pakistan for the first time since 1996,and will be a two-week event, featuring top ODI teams competing for glory. Teams like Afghanistan who recently reached to this world-class level, South Africa’s ICC title hunger, paired with India and Pakistan rivalry are just some of the elements which make this tournament an exciting event.
