Together, they built a solid second-wicket partnership of 157 runs, helping the team take control of the match after an early wicket.

Once Rickelton was run out, South Africa lost a few quick wickets. However, the middle-order batsmen kept the score moving. Rassie van der Dussen scored 52 runs, and Aiden Markram ended not out on 53, contributing to the final total of 315/6. The Afghan bowlers struggled, with Fazalhaq Farooqi taking 1 wicket for 59 runs, Azmatullah Omarzai claiming 1 for 39, and Mohammad Nabi taking 2 wickets for 51 runs.

When Afghanistan batted, they faced a tough challenge. They lost early wickets, with Rahmanullah Gurbaz (10) and Ibrahim Zadran (17) out in the first 10 overs. Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi (0) and Sediqullah Atal (16) followed soon after, leaving Afghanistan at 50/4.

The middle order didn’t help much, with Mohammad Nabi (8), Azmatullah Omarzai (18), and Rashid Khan (18) scoring low. Despite the setbacks, Rahmat Shah showed some fight, scoring 90 runs off 92 balls. However, Afghanistan was bowled out for 208 runs in 43.3 overs.

For South Africa, Lungi Ngidi and Kagiso Rabada were the top bowlers, taking three and four wickets, respectively. Ngidi had figures of 2 for 56, and Rabada took 3 for 36, sealing the win for South Africa. Wiaan Mulder contributed with 2 for 36, and Keshav Maharaj took 1 for 46.

The result highlighted South Africa’s strong performance in the match, while Afghanistan faced a disappointing outcome. South Africa’s overall effort with bat and ball secured them a 107-run victory over Afghanistan.
