Yuvraj’s Quickfire Hundred In The Third ODI Of England’s Tour Of India In 2006:
Former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh smashed his seventh ODI century on this day in 2006 to win the 12th of his 27′ Player of the Match’ awards at ODIs.
In the third ODI of England’s tour of India in 2006, Yuvraj’s quickfire hundred propelled India to a magnificent 3-0 lead in the seven-match series. He strengthened his numbers by hitting the three-figure mark in what was the left-handed batsman’s second ODI at Nehru Stadium in Margao.
Since India’s then-captain Rahul Dravid won the toss and decided to bat, Yuvraj came over to bat at No. 4. Though Yuvraj appeared to have come in to bat in a comfortable position, it didn’t stay the same in quick succession as India lost Irfan Pathan (36) and Mohammad Kaif (0).
Yuvraj Singh started to take English bowlers to the cleaners with his aggressive approach:
Yuvraj then shared a 142-run partnership with Suresh Raina (61) for the fifth wicket, as India scored an above-average 294/6 in its 50-over quota.
It was on 39th’s final delivery over that the southpaw completed its half-century off 48 deliveries. Yuvraj, with his violent style, started bringing English bowlers to the cleaners.
Yuvraj ran a single off England pacer James Anderson on the last delivery of the 47th over, to complete a 73-ball hundred. Before going to England’s captain Andrew Flintoff, Yuvraj finished scoring 103 (76) with ten fours and three sixes.

Pathan, who opened the bowling alongside Munaf Patel, posted 10-0-51-4 bowling figures and plays a crucial role in bundling out the 245 runs in 48.5 overs. Despite Paul Collingwood’s all-rounder scoring 93 (84), visitors ultimately lost the match by 49 runs.
