WTC Final: Twitter Shuts Michael Vaughan For His Tweet ‘India Have Been Saved By The Weather’

Rain has reduced the excitement among fans and analysts for the World Test Championship (WTC) Final between India and New Zealand. The rain gods have not relaxed in Southampton since the morning, and the covers are still firmly in place despite the fact that the opening session of the first day has been washed out. There is a reserve day to make up for the lost overs, but the rain has undoubtedly delayed the start of the much-anticipated final.

Meanwhile, as the rest of the world waits for the rain to stop, former England cricketer Michael Vaughan has gone on Twitter to tease Indian fans. He recently posted to Twitter to joke that the rain has so far saved India in the WTC Final. The emoji he used made it clear that Vaughan was simply having fun at the expense of die-hard Indian fans.

“I see India have been saved by the weather …. #WorldTestChampionship,” he tweeted. As expected, the tweet went viral soon and it is needless to say that the Indian fans pounced on him for the same.

Michael Vaughan had predicted that New Zealand will probably defeat India and win the WTC Final. After the Kiwis defeated England in a lengthy two-match test series, he tweeted about it. Interestingly, despite resting six of their favourite players, the visitors comfortably won the game. He anticipated that New Zealand will defeat India based on all of their skills.

“NZ are a high class team .. Read the situation with the Bat in hand, skilful with the ball & catch brilliantly .. Really fancy them to beat India next week,” Vaughan had tweeted.

Vaughan nearly always trended on Twitter for his inaccurate predictions. After India were bowled out for 36 runs in the Adelaide Test, he was among the former cricketers who predicted that the side would lose 4-0 in Australia. In comparison, India, led by Ajinkya Rahane, won the four-match series against Australia, setting a new record.

Here’s is an example of how Twitter slammed Vaughan for his tweet:
