Worst Stuff I’ve Seen From The ENG Test Team In Years: Vaughan

In the 2nd innings of the 2nd Test match involving England and India at Lord’s, Mohammed Shami and Jasprit Bumrah had a stunning 89-run stand for the 9th wicket. Following their fantastic batting effort, the pair damaged England’s side and enabled India to beat their rivals by 151 runs. Here is Vaughan About Present ENG Test Team.

Vaughan About Present ENG Test Team

Former England captain Michael Vaughan is dissatisfied with the England squad’s techniques, claiming that they are the worse he has seen from the England national team.

England coach Chris Silverwood, according to Vaughan, should have just sent someone onto the play to urge Joe Root to rethink his strategy. If Duncan Fletcher had been the England coach, the former leader believes he would have pushed the captain to modify his strategy.

What the hell was going on and getting him to change tactics?: Michael Vaughan

“The nadir came in that hour and 20 minutes before lunch on the fifth day of the second Test, which must rank among the worst stuff I’ve seen from an England Test team in years. Why was Silverwood not sending someone out onto the pitch with a drink, asking Root what the hell was going on, and getting him to change tactics? I know that is what Duncan Fletcher would have done with me had I suffered a brain fade on the field,” stated Michael Vaughan.

Vaughan, 46, also believes that each and every Test match gets down to a few crucial moments that influence the outcome. Vaughan believes Silverwood has some responsibility for England’s Day 5 collapse, citing that the greatest teams stand to capture those opportunities.

“Every Test match essentially boils down to a handful of moments which dictate the outcome: the best teams rise to them and find a way to win them. This was the big moment in the second Test and England blew it, and Silverwood has to take his share of responsibility for that,” said Vaughan.

Vaughan continued by claiming that Virat Kohli’s India seems to have the England team perfectly where they want them all to be, noting that Chris Silverwood must establish that he has the ability to enable England to alter their rhythm in the series versus India.

“He (Chris Silverwood) has to show that he is capable of changing England’s momentum in this series because at the moment it is only going one way and that is in the direction of Virat Kohli, who has his hosts right where he wants them – hot under the collar, not thinking straight and making silly mistakes,” concluded Vaughan.
