Why Scott Boland is not playing BBL 13?

When it comes to international cricket and the Big Bash League, BBL general manager Alistair Dobson understands the need of balancing game time for Australia’s Test players. He issued a statement after a BBL coach and slammed Cricket Australia keeping in consideration for the bilateral series ahead of BBL.

Dobson praised CA’s high performance officials for adding a lot of BBL games to the play schedule of Australian players.

David Saker, coach of the Melbourne Renegades, has encouraged Cricket Australia to be more upfront about the availability of major contracted players, questioning whether Scott Boland needs a rest from a BBL game before the first Test against Pakistan.

David Saker quoted in a press meet:

I want to see Australia’s great players compete in the Big Bash League. Scott Boland will not be harmed by bowling four overs, in my opinion. He’s been playing a lot of cricket, and four overs won’t kill him.

Cricket Australia must have a consistent framework for player availability and non-availability. At this moment the planning is not in a proper channel

Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne, and Michael Neser if he gets fit until then, they are expected to start for the Brisbane Heat against the Melbourne Stars in the season opener.

Steve Smith is available for the Sydney Sixers’ first game, but it is unclear whether Alex Carey and Travis Head will play in the Adelaide Strikers’ first game against the Brisbane Heat on Saturday.

The clarity of the player availability this time in BBL 13 is a big concern as with the parallel bilateral series in the future, quoting the players work load during the on going BBL 13
